C’est sous l’égide de Francisco, le père de Sylvia et Antonio Perujo, que l'association Al-Andalus voit le jour le 24 octobre 1995. Passionnés de flamenco depuis leur plus tendre enfance, le frère et la soeur Perujo participent un peu partout, à des festivals de danse et se forment en Espagne jusqu’à la création de leur propre école de danse entre Genève et Renens. Depuis la mort de leur père en 2008, Antonio et Sylvia n’ont de cesse de faire vivre ce fabuleux héritage culturel avec l’aide de mentors comme José Granero de Buenos Aires, qui a fait le premier casting de West Side Story; Javier Latorre, le plus grand chorégraphe de flamenco vivant, qui travaille actuellement pour le ballet national; Belen Maya, Manolo Marin, Lola Greco, Matilde Coral.
